Lee Roy Selmon's lifestyle is one of football scholarships, family involvement as well as community involvement. His first family is that his father was the youngest of nine kids raised in Eufala by Lucious Selmon. Two, football. He is one of the three brothers that participated in the football team of Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. He won two championships and 32-1-1 in his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a degree in Education. Lee Roy's fourth service included ten hours per week of volunteer time in the college. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Additionally, he started an entrepreneurial career. By 1988, he became an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was an athlete, was captain of his team for the year 1975. In 1993, he became the assistant director of the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
